Base Network (How to)

Base serves as both a home for Coinbase’s onchain products and an open ecosystem where anyone can build.

Base uses ETH as payment for network costs. You can explore transactions done on the Base network using https://basescan.org/

Sending Assets to/via Base

To start using Base, you’ll need to move your crypto onto the Base network. There are two common ways this happens:

Good news: many exchanges let you withdraw directly to Base.

Steps:

Log in to your exchange (Binance, Coinbase, etc).
Go to the Withdraw / Send section.
Choose the coin you want to send (for example: ETH or USDC).
Paste your deposit address (shown when you click on Deposit)
Select Base as the network.
- ⚠️ Make sure it says Base — not Ethereum, Arbitrum, or Optimism.
Enter the amount and confirm the withdrawal.

Your crypto will show up in your Base wallet after the transaction is processed.

👉 If your exchange doesn’t list Base yet, don’t worry — you can first withdraw to Ethereum, then use the Base Bridge (see below).

If your funds are already in a wallet (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Ledger, etc.), you’ll usually bridge them to Base.

Steps:

Make sure your wallet has the Base network added.
- If not, you can quickly add it using Chainlist or the Base docs.
Go to the official Base Bridge: https://bridge.base.org.
Connect your wallet.
Select the coin you want to move (e.g., ETH, USDC).
Choose Base as the destination.
Confirm the transaction in your wallet (you’ll need some ETH for gas on the network you’re sending from).
Wait a few minutes — your funds will arrive on Base
